I anticipate that Fenchurch Communications will fit straight into our group, as it is an extremely professional, high quality business.” Fenchurch Communications Managing Director Grant Fernley commented “By bringing together the knowledge and experience held by both companies, I believe that the benefits will be evident to the whole customer base. Both organisations have thrived due to a customer focused strategy and this move will ensure that Fenchurch team and customers will now have access to the larger support structure that evolve has to offer whilst retaining their local account management.” Mark Gordon, evolve group’s MD will be taking over from Grant immediately but the day to day management will remain with James Thompson and the rest of the existing Fenchurch Communications team. The addition of Fenchurch Communications will strengthen evolve’s geographical and account management presence in London, and will extend the services that can be offered and supported across the group. As a result of this acquisition, evolve will gain an additional 10 employees and will manage in excess of 70,000 numbers as well as taking over the office and shop front locations on Fenchurch Street. This acquisition is the first in 2013 for evolve group and follows the successful additions of theWord and JL Communications in Wales and MPC Romford in 2012. Managing Director Mark Gordon commented “In addition to the acquisition of companies we have been conscious that there is additional investment required in the infrastructure of the company. Toby is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 16 years of experience gained at Virgin Media, Easycar and recently Sigma Response. HarperCollins Publishers today announced that it will roll out a new global publishing system, one of the largest undertakings of its kind to be implemented by a trade publisher. Global Product Manager, developed in partnership with Publishing Technology, will enable HarperCollins to unify editorial, marketing and business data around the world, widening the reach of its print and digital publications in its core target markets.
By integrating systems and assets across the globe, the new centralized system will provide the company with the long term infrastructure needed to maximize its extensive catalogue of books, e-books and apps. It will transform the way staff view, manage and share product information throughout the publishing lifecycle.
Built on Publishing Technology’s advance platform, Global Product Manager will empower HarperCollins staff to explore current and future content delivery types and business models, while enabling better metadata management that will improve the discoverability of its products. Other expected benefits include:
• Greater visibility, consistency and reliability of product data
• Best-in-class metadata maintenance to drive marketing strategies
• Ability to better leverage rights, aggregate content and create new business models
• Robust scheduling and tracking capability to monitor cost and performance
• Improved relationships with retailers and authors through improved access to data
• Best-practice sharing of information across geographical regions
The system will be rolled out first in the US, followed by the UK and subsequently Canada, Australia and to the Christian Publishing Division through 2013.

Cambridge, UK – The finals of the free-to-enter Discovering Start-Ups 2012 take place on 21st November when entrants will have the unique opportunity to pitch their ideas, technologies and business plans to an impressive line-up of some 25 leading investors and industry figures from companies including Orange Labs, RIM, Qualcomm, Vodafone Ventures and Google. The pitch event will be hosted at the flagship London headquarters of the legal firm Taylor Wessing and is also sponsored by Google, Rohde Schwarz and SETsquared Partnership.
The competition has already attracted a wide range of entrants that include Lutebox, an online and mobile social mall; Carbon Hero that has developed a mobile app that detects a user’s mode of transport and calculates its carbon footprint; a smart phone application called Collide, which automatically tells you when your friends are nearby and suggests local cafes, bars and restaurants along with money-off vouchers; Synelyxis, the developers of a new collaborative communication system for disaster situations; and Smart Antenna Technologies, the company behind a new patented range of smart antenna technologies.
Cambridge-based Blendology enables brand managers and event organisers to connect, engage and interact with customers in real-life and online using ‘tap-to-connect’ badges and devices, while Bardowl is a smartphone and tablet app that allows users to access and stream audiobooks and AquamatiX provides a new real-time collaboration platform for water/wastewater industry based on Internet of Things technology. Also entered is SmartStudy from Swindon, a publisher of social mobile learning applications that allow students to test each other in real time; TopicLogic – a web service to help busy professionals instantly find and share their files wherever they are; while Tank Top TV aggregates on-demand programme and movie listings from providers like iPlayer, 4oD and ITV Player. One of the more unusual entrants is the BIG FAT SOFT-KEY™ from Input Dynamics – a virtual button that works by simply tapping the case of a mobile device.
