LSI® TrueStore® PA5200 Preamplifiers Increase Hard Disk Drive Areal Density

PRLog (Press Release)Mar. 18, 2013London UK, March 18, 2013 – LSI Corporation (NASDAQ: LSI) today announced that its TrueStore® PA5200 series of preamplifiers has enabled hard disk drive (HDD) designers to increase areal density, delivering greater storage within each square inch of disk surface. The superior noise performance of the PA5200 provides the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gains that can then be leveraged by HDD manufacturers to achieve greater manufacturing yield.  Confirmed by multiple industry tests, these performance improvements were predicted by LSI read channel and preamp system simulations for production solutions.

3Additionally, the PA5200 SNR advantage allows a higher HDD production yield, resulting in lower manufacturing costs and increased value for customers.

The TrueStore PA5200 production volume pricing is anticipated to be $0.89 each for 2-channel models, $1.09 each for 4-channel models and $1.89 each for 8-channel models.

The LSI TrueStore product family of hard disk and solid-state disk solutions includes highly integrated SoCs, read channels, preamplifiers, serial PHYs and HDD controller IP. By offering a broad portfolio of integrated SoC solutions, LSI enables its customers to address all segments of the storage market, from mission-critical enterprise applications and high-capacity desktop PCs to low-power laptops and tape archive solutions.

Acronis Drives Industry Forward with Expansion of Data Protection Platform for Hybrid Environments

PRLog (Press Release)Feb. 27, 2013 – Acronis’ Progressive Strategy Meets Changing Enterprise Architecture Demands for New Data Protection Technologies

LONDON, UK – February 27, 2013 – Recognising a serious shift in enterprise needs for data protection, Acronis today announced that it has expanded beyond the traditional backup and disaster recovery market to encompass a broader strategy for delivering secure data availability, accessibility and protection. The widespread adoption of virtualisation and cloud computing, alongside tablets, smartphones and the Apple® Mac® within businesses significantly increases the risk of data loss and leakage, which cannot be prevented with conventional approaches using outdated technologies from legacy vendors. With its focus on the protection and movement of data, regardless of platform or environment, Acronis is presenting further expansion of its comprehensive platform to address this risk, easily, simply, and reliably for organisations of all sizes.

In 2012, Acronis’ virtualisation data protection business grew by nearly 60 percent worldwide. This, alongside Acronis’ continued cloud business growth, is strong evidence of the demand for a more innovative, comprehensive platform that eliminates IT complexity and allows companies to establish one set of data protection policies, using one technology, across all environments. The increase in hybrid IT environments require new approaches to solve the data protection and availability problems these complex environments create.

“Companies are adopting new technologies faster than they can plan effective data protection strategies. Yet IT is responsible for data protection across all technologies and environments. After all, data can only be utilised if it can be securely accessed, protected and available regardless of platform or environment, tablet or smartphone,” said Alex Pinchev, president and CEO, Acronis. “Acronis is delivering a comprehensive platform strategy that allows customers’ to more simply and reliably mitigate the risk to data in today’s world, in ways no legacy vendor can. By keeping data at the center of our development effort, we focus on removing the constraints of hybrid environments by enabling the secure, protected movement of data while reducing risks of data loss and leakage.”

The most recent developments include a new seamless architecture that enables organisations to integrate protection for data created on an Apple® Mac® platform, which was also announced today, as well as the extension of the Acronis Unified Platform to include new plugins for data-intensive applications such as Microsoft® SQL Server™ which are increasingly moving to virtual environments.

“We see the forces of Big Data, virtualisation, cloud and the growing population of workers with three or more disparate devices changing the landscape of data protection forever,” commented Laura DuBois, program vice president for the Storage practice at IDC. “Our research shows that with the next wave of virtualisation users will increasingly embrace multiple hypervisors in their environments. Organisations will be facing an increasingly complex management and security burden.”

From the initial imaging product development in 2002, Acronis has always focused on the protection of data, regardless of platform or environment, enabling seamless movement and greater efficiency. The imaging technology central to Acronis innovation enables the granular availability of every object, file, machine or system – regardless of location. Acronis’ Unified Platform, which supports all major hypervisors, has been on the market for nearly two years and is proven in thousands of networks worldwide. These latest extensions will bring greater flexibility to an organisations’ ability to move, access and protect critical data.

Ecobuild: Mastervolt Presents New Soladin Web Inverters with Integrated Wi-Fi and Innovative Monitoring

AMSTERDAM, February 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ –

Mastervolt presents the completely new generation of compact Soladin inverters at Ecobuild 2013, booth 8611. The new Soladin Web series is made in Holland and ideal for smaller PV systems. The range is designed to meet building code requirements in the UK and consists of three inverters with capacities of 700W, 1000W and 1500W. The new inverter series has integrated Wi-Fi. Using the new and free IntelliWeb Internet portal, owners can monitor their solar systems from anywhere at any time.

The Mastervolt design philosophy allows for a simple and flexible installation of the new Soladin. Thanks to their integrated HF transformer and the wide input voltage range, the inverters can be used with all PV modules and any kind of solar roof tiles. For quick and easy installation, every Soladin Web is equipped with ‘quick connect’ AC terminals and safe DC connectors.

In spite of the inverters’ compact size, the new Soladin series boasts all eight features of the Mastervolt IntelliConcept. These include the intelligent startup procedure IntelliStart, which extends the annual operating time by up to 200 hours. IntelliGrid reduces production losses in case of voltage dips in the grid and IntelliShade ensures high yields even in conditions of temporary shading. The performance of the smart IntelliTrack has been simulated and tested with results of 99.9% static MPPT efficiency and a 99.7% dynamic MPPT efficiency. The silent IntelliCool system ensures stable high efficiency and constant high power. Taken together, these features result in up to 5% more energy production compared with systems without the IntelliConcept.
