Apple Tops With 16 Percent In Mobile Market In Japan

mobile-aap1PRLog (Press Release)Mar. 7, 2013 – A research organized by Counterpoint Research it has been found that Apple has secured 16 percent market share in Japan in fourth quarter of the year and 15 percent for the whole of the year 2012. Here, it is to know that Apple has already overtaken the local champion sharp of Japan before. But it is only a short span of time that the company has accompanied in product releases.

Apple’s iPhone 4S has launched in 2011 but that was not accompanied. Apple has overtaken Sharp last year and ended the six year reign of that company. Now, Apple is top brand name in Japanese electronic market.

The research director at Counter Point, Piter Richardson has stated that Japan is once again considered as Galapagos Island. It has become an isolated terrain in terms of hand-held devices and mobile app development( http://www.rootinfosol.co.uk/ ) technology. He also stated that the Island has it has personal and distinctive cellular technology. The technology is far more advance and expert than any other mobile technology of the world.

Other market of the world is far behind from this technology. Nearly it is impossible for any foreign technology to meet with the advancement of the cellular technology of Japan. Any other technology fails to penetrate in Japanese market. Motorola and Nokia both had failed to this. But the situation has changed with the wave of smart phones in present days. Now, it is clear that a Japanese market is same as other market of the world that can change for the better or worse.

Counterpoint Research also noted that the foreign mobile phone brand like Samsung, HTC and LG covers 50 percent of the market during last quarter of the year 2012. The research reports also show that even a Chinese brand Huawei have seen a three fold increase in sales even in short period.

The research reports are showing changes in market trend and it also changing the trend of mobile app development.

Latest polls reveal train disaster – EUM discusses the effects on commuters

photo_01_04PRLog (Press Release)Feb. 19, 2013 – www.eumconsultants.co.uk

Once again, train prices have risen extortionately high, commuters are looking at other ways to travel to save money and the service from trains themselves are as poor as ever. A recent poll suggests that over 0.8 billion of the train journeys made every year in the UK are not satisfactory. EUM Consultants Ltd discusses the views of commuters.

Some train operating companies’ were shown to have satisfaction ratings of less than 40 per cent, and the highest rating came in at a low 67 per cent. So if even the ‘best’ train operating company in the United Kingdom can only reach 67 per cent satisfaction rating, why are the train prices increasing so quickly? “Ticket prices have jumped on average 4.2% this year, so not only are we seeing little improvement in our train journeys, but we are paying more for them as well” says Mark McAlear, Managing Director of EUM Consultants.

“Trains are overcrowded, there are mass delays, and since the Olympics this has all just got worse, particularly in London where you still see tourists visiting the Olympic sites creating busy train services months after the Olympics 2012” says Alex Tsimboykas, Sales Director of EUM Consultants. Due to all of the overcrowding, the cost and the poor service, commuters are seeking different ways to travel to and from work, for some, it is not possible and the daily rush hour is something they just have to put up with, along with increasing prices.

“I don’t understand why some of the world’s fastest trains are being used in places like Japan, and not the United Kingdom. They can cover up to 300 miles an hour and are always on time, yet in the UK we have constant delays, slow trains, ridiculous prices and the second we get a hint of bad weather every train grinds to a halt” says Mark McAlear, Managing Director of EUM Consultants. Sales Director of EUM Consultants, Alex Tsimboykas agrees “In this day and age and the technology available, our transport, which millions of commuters rely on all year, should be of a high standard like Japan.”

Throughout the UK, underground and train stations, posters and billboards everywhere state that the underground and train services are being upgraded. Independent surveys carried out state that the satisfaction rate is actually at a record high at 85 per cent, as they surveyed many more regular travellers and found a higher result.

Either way there are still many unhappy commuters, and something needs to be done to resolve the situation. Whether you are a regular commuter or a one in a while traveller, your opinion still counts, are we just a nation of complainers? Or are our trains in need of an upgrade?

Sony gives up on MiniDisc systems

Sony MiniDisc hi-fi systemSony’s last MiniDisc stereo systems will ship in March

Sony has announced it is to deliver its last MiniDisc stereo next month.

It marks an end to the firm’s support for the system which it launched in 1992.

The format only ever had limited success outside of Japan and was ultimately doomed by the rise of recordable CDs and MP3 players.

The news coincided with a teaser video released by the company promoting a PlayStation event with the caption: Be the first to know.

The Wall Street Journal reported that “people familiar with the matter” said that the successor to the PlayStation 3 video games console would be unveiled at the New York press conference on 20 February.

However, a spokesman was unable to provide any further information.

Long lasting

Sony had intended MiniDisc to become users’ format of choice as a higher quality digital replacement for cassettes.

The firm had already promoted another digital format – the Digital Audio Tape – but the complex nature of the equipment needed to play it put it out of the reach of most consumers.

MiniDiscSony suggested recordings were safe for at least three decades

Data was stored on rewritable magneto-optical disks 2.5in (64mm) in diameter housed for protection in a square plastic shell.

They initially offered to hold up to 74 minutes of audio which was boosted to 80 minutes.

Sony claimed that recordings would be safe for more than 30 years without risk of degradation.

However, experiments by users revealed that holding magnets close to the disks would erase their recordings.

The original MiniDisc machines were still not cheap – the original recorder cost $750 (£475) while a playback-only version cost $549 when launched in the US in December 1992.

They proved a flop with fewer than 50,000 units sold over the following year.

Customers looking for high-quality recordings were more interested in CDs which were catching on at the time.

However, MiniDiscs did turn out to be more popular in Japan where CDs were more expensive and teenagers proved receptive to MD singles.

Niche market

A series of expensive marketing campaigns and a key role in the science-fiction movie Strange Days – in which user’s memories were recorded onto the disks – did not help the format catch on in the West. Neither did slashing the price of recorders to a third of their original cost by 1998.

Sony MiniDisc playerSony made its last portable MiniDisc player two years ago

Sony tried to reboot the format in 2004 as Hi-MD, offering more than three times the amount of storage – but by that point CD-R recorders, Apple’s iPod and other MP3 players had captured consumers’ attention.

“Despite the fact it never took off as a mainstream platform – truth be told many people never really understood it – it still carved some niches,” said Chris Green, principal technology analyst at Davies Murphy Group Europe.

“Sound engineers and media professionals loved to use it to record samples, jingles and interviews – it’s very easy to use MiniDisc equipment to edit audio on the fly – and they continue to stockpile the players and disks.”

Sony ended shipments of its MiniDisc portable Walkman players in 2011.

The decision to halt production of MD-based hi-fi systems effectively marks its exits from the sector, although it will continue to make the cartridges.

However, the Asahi newspaper said other manufacturers such as Onkyo will continue to make MD equipment for remaining aficionados.
