CPA Global Opens New Office in Silicon Valley

SYDNEY, March 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ –

World’s leading IP management specialist expands US footprint to meet demand in highly innovative, IP-focused region

CPA Global, the world’s leading intellectual property (IP) management and software specialist, has opened a new office in Silicon Valley, to help meet the massive demand for IP management services in the region and to enable the Company to better serve its existing West Coast clients.

Located in Redwood City, the new office will support the IP needs of CPA Global’s more than 220 corporate and law firm clients in California; and adds to the Company’s other US offices in Alexandria, Minneapolis and Houston.

“The West Coast, and Silicon Valley in particular, is a major centre for innovation,” said Peter Sewell, CPA Global’s Chief Executive Officer. “Opening an office in California brings us closer to our West Coast clients, and helps us better understand their needs and the unique characteristics of the region. This, in turn, will enable us to provide highly customised services and solutions to meet their individual requirements.”

The Silicon Valley office announcement follows closely on from another important expansion into California for CPA Global. Last month the Company acquired First To File, the market leader in electronic document management systems, specifically tailored for the IP industry. First To File is headquartered in San Mateo, California, with additional operations in Boise, Idaho. These developments underline CPA Global’s commitment to California and the West Coast, and highlight the strong business potential the Company sees from the increasing demand for IP services in the region.

To mark the opening of the new office, CPA Global is hosting an IP Leaders Seminar on 19 March in Silicon Valley. The event will feature insights from some of the industry leading companies and law firms counted amongst CPA Global’s clients, as well as from CPA Global’s own experts. Topics will range from the increasing complexity and challenges of IP portfolio management to delivering greater value through new approaches to resourcing.

Jess Carmichael, Business Services Program Manager at Microsoft, will lead the first panel session of the event, focusing on Microsoft’s decision to outsource some of their IP support services and the tangible benefits they have seen from partnering with CPA Global. Peter Yim, Partner at Morrison Foerster, and Kurt Wedel, Vice President, Operations at First To File, will lead the next session, discussing how corporations and law firms compete effectively by automating the IP asset lifecycle via a secure and sustainable web-based solution. The event will conclude with a discussion led by Laura Martino, Head of Global Operations, Legal Services at CPA Global, who will talk about the stronger climate of enforcement around compliance issues and how to avoid falling foul of anti-bribery legislation.

Peter Sewell added: “As a global IP industry leader, we are delighted to establish a direct presence in a region where so much cutting-edge innovation is being developed. We aim to play a prominent role in the conversations driving the IP industry; and our Silicon Valley IP Leaders Seminar is the first of many industry events we will deliver in the region, aimed at sharing information and discussing issues impacting IP professionals.”

D-Link extends outdoor connectivity with Wireless N Dual Band Outdoor Access Point

PRLog (Press Release)Feb. 28, 2013 – D-Link has today launched its latest Wireless N Dual Band Outdoor Access Point (DAP-3520), designed to meet the demand for fast, ubiquitous outdoor internet connectivity. The DAP-3520 is a flexible, switchable 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless access point with versatile deployment modes and is suitable for use in all weather conditions. This makes it perfect for small businesses or campuses that want to offer fast, wireless access to customers and visitors in their outdoor areas.

In the standard wireless access point mode, it is ideal for small business owners looking to enable Wi-Fi connection in outdoor areas of their business, such as pub gardens or coffee shop courtyards. With small businesses facing stiff competition to attract customers, outside wireless connectivity is a compelling differentiator.

It can also be used by organisations with multiple buildings spread over a large area, such as a university campus, to join networks together across buildings. This delivers improved wireless connectivity across a large area where Wi-Fi signal may have typically suffered weak points or interruptions. For these point-to-point deployments – where more than one network is connected – the access point has an embedded powerful directional antenna to focus the direction of the signal, thereby achieving the most superior outdoor connectivity in the desired area. Alternatively, two N-type antenna connectors are available if coverage is needed in all directions.

The new wireless outdoor access point features the 802.11n super-fast wireless technology standard for reliable wireless coverage. It also boasts Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) functionality, meaning users can simply connect a single cable that will carry data and power when connected to a compatible switch. This capability eliminates the need for additional electrical wiring or outdoor plug sockets. The DAP-3520 supports 64/128-bit WEP as well as WPA/WPA2 data encryption.  While MAC address filtering and the ability to hide SSIDs (Service Set Identifiers), controls user access and further ensures no unwanted connection to the wireless network.

Specifically built to withstand all weather conditions, the model is IP65-rated, signalling that it has a robust enclosure and can be installed in locations with limited protection from the elements. It also features an in-built heater for installations where extreme cold weather is likely.

The DAP-3520 comes with D-Link’s network management software, offering administrators multiple options for managing the network from a single location and carrying out regular maintenance checks of the access point centrally. This makes managing the entire network easier than ever.

Andrew Mulholland, Business Solutions Manager at D-Link UK Ireland, commented: “Consumers increasingly want to be connected to their devices in any location. To satisfy growing ‘on the go’ demands, small business owners and organisations are looking to provide fast wireless access throughout all areas of their business to boost customer loyalty.  Furthermore, these wireless networks need to be cost-effective to deploy and easy to manage. As well as providing extended high-speed wireless access to outdoor spaces, the DAP-3520 removes the need for additional power cabling or outdoor power sockets, and its robust enclosure makes it weather resistant too.”

D-Link unveils IP camera that provides superior full HD images under any conditions

PRLog (Press Release)Feb. 21, 2013 – D-Link has launched an outdoor surveillance camera that balances varying light conditions, to enhance the quality of information discernible from footage, as well as security. The DCS-7513 HD camera uses a combination of a Precision-Iris (P-Iris) lens and wide dynamic range (WDR) technology to enhance light and reduce silhouette or ‘wash-out’ effects. This automated image enhancement overcomes the difficulties of recording activity in areas with a large depth of field – e.g. long corridors or car parks – and well as areas with multiple windows or uneven light.

Andrew Mulholland, Business Solutions Manager at D-Link UK Ireland, said: “IP Surveillance is essential for a range of businesses, but not all premises and surrounding conditions are the same. Our latest WDR camera gives businesses, including showrooms, hotels and leisure centres, a surveillance solution designed for their specific environments. The DCS-7513 brings the latest technology features to businesses of any size, in a way that can be easily deployed, integrated and managed.”

The P-Iris technology is key to the capture of superior image quality, clarity and depth of field. Sensors within the cameras constantly monitor light conditions and motors within the camera adjust the size of the lens accordingly.

The DCS-7513 is able to record 24-hours per day with a range of up to 30 metres in complete darkness. The Infra-red (IR) filters adapt maximise available light and then IR LEDs illuminate the area under surveillance when it’s dark.

As with all of the cameras in the D-Link range, the DCS-7513 is IP-based, which allows businesses to quickly install and easily manage it as part of a video surveillance network. Any authorised personnel can easily view camera feeds from any location in real-time, via mobile devices.

The D-Link IP Surveillance Suite includes a wide range of cameras, network video recorders (NVRs) and video management software (VMS) to help companies coordinate streams from multiple units.
