Craving Innovation, Creativity and the Digital Revolution? Look to the Charity and Fundraising Sector, Advise Guardian Jobs

LONDON, November 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ –

As the West End lauds Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones’ record-breaking fundraising collection for thespian charity, Acting for Others, the Driving Miss Daisy stars have cast charity and fundraising jobs into the spotlight. A celebrity working as a fundraiser for the night certainly adds a touch of glamour to the industry, but what of the real 9 to 5 charity and fundraising jobs? Guardian Jobs reveal how a sector, often noted for its reams of red tape and archaic systems, is in reality the perfect place to find innovation, digital revolutions and promise.

The charity and fundraising sector is now home to some of the most creative minds in business. The humble cake sale no longer cuts it in the face of third world hunger, global warming and domestic violence. Admirably, our most altruistic professions are not only presenting opportunities for volunteers, but offer development managers, team managers, care and support workers and marketing strategists a chance to really cut their salt. Charities provide the ideal environment to experiment with social media, with more and more encouraging digital donations through electronic devices. Finding ways to leverage technologies and formulating digital campaigns sits atop of the charity and fundraiser sector’s in-tray.

For innovation and originality, look to fundraising jobs. The NSPCC recently unveiled their DIY fundraising kit, allowing potential fundraisers the chance to plan their own events – an example of intelligent thinking that would have involved input from designers, marketers, copywriters, care workers and project managers. At the forefront of fundraising are the sterling employees at The Giving Machine, a company who has fused the fun of online shopping with fundraising. The concept and creation behind such a powerful idea demanded experienced negotiators for brand partnerships, brand developers and fundraising expertise.

And back to celebrities. Celebrity endorsements have become an integral part of charity and fundraising campaigns. An indication of this is PR’s head honcho, Max Clifford, readily offering advice (YouTube Video) to charities on how to work successfully with celebrities. A sector rife with celebrity involvement requires reputation management and PR know-how.

Regarding the changing shape of charity jobs, Sophie Relf from Guardian Jobs comments:

‘The harsh economic climate has created job opportunities forfundraisersin a range of sectors from charity, education including schools, colleges and universities, to NHS trusts, and arts and heritage organisations. Typically fundraisers have a unique blend of sales, lobbying and campaigning skills; which they can put to great use in raising funds. They are highly sought after professionals.’

All-new reed.co.uk Unveiled

LONDON, November 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ –

An all-new version of leading job site, reed.co.uk, has been unveiled

The next generation site has been re-developed from the ground up and includes a range of new features and a completely new design.

Originally launched in 1995, reed.co.uk was the UK’s first recruitment agency website and has gone on to become the biggest jobs board in the UK, generating more than 78,000 applications every day.

The latest version, which has been nearly a year in the making, includes a full overhaul of the core job search functionality and has been subject to rigorous user testing and consultation at every step of the development process.

Vickie Birnage, Head of Product Effectiveness at reed.co.uk, explains:

“With more than 3.5 million unique visitors every month, we started this project with a huge responsibility to our existing users, as well as to the thousands of new jobseekers who register with us every day. By taking the best bits of the old site and combining them with new, usability-led features and functionality, we’ve been able to deliver what we think is the best online jobseeking experience available.”

“Every page has been re-designed and every user journey analysed to give the most intuitive, supportive and effective service. But we know that the work doesn’t stop here. We’ll keep testing the new site with real jobseekers, gathering their feedback and optimising every area of reed.co.uk.”

The previous version of reed.co.uk, which was live for three years from December 2008, saw more than 3.5 million new jobseeker registrations and over 65 million job applications. Traffic to the site has grown by 70%, over the same period.

As well as a range of improvements for jobseekers, the new reed.co.uk includes a number of new features for recruiters.

‘Display’ jobs enable employers to create fully-branded job details pages, whilst bespoke company profiles, featuring video and other interactive content, offer recruiters the opportunity to create brochure-style pages to promote their brands. New targeted display advertising options have also been included throughout the site, allowing adverts to display across a range of sector and location pages, for example jobs in London and jobs in Manchester pages.

Martin Warnes, Managing Director of reed.co.uk, comments:

“For us, it’s simple: combining the best product with a well optimised marketing engine provides our clients with the most effective service.

“The new site offers a really simple and supportive service for matching jobseekers with the most suitable vacancies, whilst helping them keep their all-important profile details relevant and up-to-date.

“And, with an exciting new advertising campaign just around the corner, we’re looking forward to helping deliver success to our clients with unprecedented levels of quality response.”

Teleplan Strategically Targets Indonesia as new Growth Market

AMSTERDAM and JAKARTA, Indonesia, November 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ –

Teleplan International N.V. (Prime Standard, ISIN: NL0000229458), the leading global provider of high-tech after-market services for the Computer, Communications and Consumer Electronics industries is opening its third site for Communications (Mobile, Networking) after-market services in Jakarta.

Kalamullah Ramli, Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Elmar Bouma, Director of the Indonesian-Netherlands Association (INA) and Hajo Prov Kluit, Deputy Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy of the Netherlands, all participated in the opening ceremony, held by Teleplan’s Chief Executive Officer Gotthard Haug and local Teleplan management.

The after-market service landscape in Indonesia is dominated by local repair shops, lacking in high-tech capabilities to provide professional service solutions. This presents an opportunity for global after-market service companies such as Teleplan, providing end-to-end solutions fulfilling the needs of OEM customers.

Teleplan’s growth strategy in Indonesia will be supported by global advanced engineering skills and know-how, combined with existing strong relationships with OEM companies. Teleplan first expanded into Indonesia in 2007 and now operates three sites there – two in Jakarta and one in Surabaya. Teleplan has made a significant commitment to the country, with an Indonesian workforce of 240 people, and approximately US$2M invested to date. Teleplan’s services for electronic equipment range from Mobile, Storage, Network, LCD, PC Notebook to Set-Top-Boxes.

“This important strategic step will lead to a transfer of technology and engineering know-how and allow us to offer an even better quality of service to the Indonesian end consumer. As people in Indonesia spend more and more time online, their needs for better service and support can only increase,” commented Gotthard Haug, CEO of Teleplan. He added: “Growing our business in Indonesia will increase our local workforce and lead to further investments there.”

Teleplan International N.V. is one of the top suppliers of high-tech after-market services and provides total lifecycle care solutions for the world of Computers, Communications and Consumer Electronics (“3Cs”). The lifecycle care concept ranges from simple repairs to the most sophisticated technological and electronic solutions. Headquartered in Amsterdam/Schiphol, the Netherlands, Teleplan currently operates from 24 sites in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia with approximately 5,300 employees.
